There is HOPE...

I am part of a "Lost Generation"...

Obama Goes High-Fashion?

"Obama street-style goes high-fashion." Thank you Refinery 29 for this tip.

Wearing and pairing a t-shrit with Obamas face on it is just as cool... no wait, cooler than wearing your fav band tee. Not just americans but people around the world are making a demonstrative (and fashionable) statement showing their political support...

Obama supporters everywhere are very egger to express their enthusiasm... so why not show support on your own tee? You can take your personal style to a whole new level and be a walking billboard for anything you're passionate about, even if it is a president OR dare I say "The" President.

Even after his inauguration 1 week ago,  there is still MUCH hype. So, is this a new trend? YES, and hopefully it will be for the next 4 years... well that is if he's still "cool" after his stimulous plan is put in place. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Above, a Bruce Weber shot in Italian Vogue portrays this "Obama street-style"

So if you're an "Obama Mama" you can get some cute supporting tee's @ Cafe Press and Urban Outfitters

How to be "grunge"

A grungy girl follows these rules to be grunge

www.wikihow.com/Be-Grunge says....

1. Dressing somewhat kinderwhore (tights, babydoll dresses, boots, loads of makeup). Think Babes In Toyland.
2. OneStar converse
3. Dark but not uber tight jeans that are ripped (thrift shops)
4. Band shirts
5. Flannel anythings
6. Do NOT shop at Abercrombie & Fitch

Look up these women of grunge: Courtney Love (pictured above), Kat Bjelland, and Kathleen Hanna

Just get it at Target...

So many designer deals at a great price only "for TARGET"

Just like Hayden-Harnett for Target handbag line and others, Alexander McQueen is starting a "for Target" line of his own drawing inspiration from punk singer, Leila Moss, from The Duke Spirit. McQueen's collection combines studs and tattoo-print fabrics with edgy details. Its the girl next door meets the softer side of grunge. Excited? You don't have to wait long. His collection debuts in March. Yay!

She should be celebrated

One of the most inspirational things I have ever read, Thanks Brooke!
"She"... by Kobi Yamada

She must be something special. She is. Celebrate her.
She loved life and it love her back. Celebrate her passion.
She listened to her heart above all other voices. Celebrate her wisdom.
She pursued big dreams instead of small realities. Celebrate her priorities.
She saw everything as a new beginning. Celebrate her resiliency....
... She held her head high and looked the world straight in the eye. Celebrate her strength.
She not only saw the light at the end of the tunnel she became that light for others. Celebrate her compassion.
She designed the life she loved. Celebrate her joy.
She took a leap and built her wings on the way down. Celebrate her daring.
She said bye-bye to unhealthy relationships. Celebrate her happiness.
She remained true to herself. Celebrate her authenticity.
She made the world a better place. Celebrate her.

Even Blue had a Handy Dandy Notebook.... so should you!

Write it, blog it, facebook it, file it.... keep track of it!

Whenever you come across something that inspires you whether that be a new travel destination, a new shop you want to hit the next time you're in L.A, a clip of cool necklace you're thinking about re-creating, a book you want to read to keep your finances in order, a color scheme for your future bedroom makeover... collect it and keep track of it! You never know when you'll go back and revisit it. When that time comes and you're remolding that dream bedroom of yours,  that cool magazine clipping you came across in Elle Decor a few weeks ago is easily accessed. POW! without much thought, that inspiration can be a YOUR reality... you bring it to life.

Oh, and if you want to take your creativity to another level, "vision boards" are always an option. Tear, tape, and display. Even __(add name)___ from The Bachelor makes 'em. Her inspiration came from a book called The Secret.

You think she'll make it to the next round?? or did she totally creep Jason out with this idea? Only time will tell.....

A little frugal these days?.... DIY and save a fortune!

Fringe is in these days, but not for long. So if you're saving up for a frilly frock, DONT! Quit the penny-pinching and DIY (a.k.a. Do-It-Yourself) Don't forget, trends come and go and this one will be out the door before you know it.

Here are the "How-To's": Recreate this scarf (inspired by this picture in Lucky Mag, it made a great Christmas gift... all for the price of $16)

(Add Pic)

Go to Jo Ann's or any neighborhood craft store and buy...
1.  Silk fabric (the cheaper the better for you wallet)- 2 yards
2. Gold fringe about 3in long - 1 yard
3. Black thread- 1 spool

8 Step How- To's
1. Fold silk fabric in 1/2 (inside out) and measure to your desired length
2. Cut off excess fabric
3. Fold ends (still in 1/2 and inside out) at a 90' angle until you see a nice diagonal line
4. Iron so line becomes more clear
5. Cut along line and remove excess fabric
6. Measure fringe to the length of that line on both sides of the scarf (still folded)
7. Place the fringe under the flap and sew scarf along 3 edges leaving a hole to turn inside out
8.Turn inside out and sew up that hole

Vuala!
